  1. Because of how tall my grandson is i ordered him the longer middle shaft and also the lower carbon fiber shaft for his simplex plus, got them delivered today had my son bring my grandson over, but I put the two new shafts on before they got to my house, I know the carbon fiber lower shaft is a little lighter then the stock shaft but man I did not realize how much different in feel it would create wow is all i can say, I put the 11 inch coil on to check it out and it seemed to me the balance and overall feel was quite different, in a good way. With the lower carbon fiber shaft on and the 11 inch coil did not seem to be near as toe heavy as it did with the stock shaft, I don't really know that just may be me and wishful thinking but it just seems the over all balance with both coils and the new carbon fiber lower shaft seems quite good now. I also did not care for the flex the stock lower shaft had and the carbon fiber lower cured that

  2. If I am at a beach or park I go after coins and jewelry. When I scope out an old building site I go after coins jewelry and relics. Never gone looking for gold, of course not in the right part of the world for that. I do have a friend that goes panning in Minnesota and finds some flakes of gold. I have to say pulling up a hundred year old hatchet, or fining old brass horse harness buckles, or even some silver coins is the best feeling of the day. Really makes the experience that much better. just getting out and swinging a detector makes my day.

  3. Just curious as to what you hunt for when you get out there swinging...there are so many on the youtube searching for the old/silver coins, some are relic hunters, some are beach hunters searching out the gold rings, some searching out the civil war stuff, etc. I am usually looking for locations that will produce rings...but I am far from the beaches of the Atlantic...still, along with that, I dig the clad...clad has bought all my metal detecting gear and a $25 day with no rings is a good one.....I do sometimes stumble across a site with a bunch of old coins, which is cool and I'm getting a pretty good collection going....but I concider myself a ring hunter 1st.....and I dig every solid repeatable tone I swing over. Do any of you hunt meteorites?....cashes/lost treasure?...raw gold?....all of which need a lot of upfront work done first, before you ever swing a coil...if you want to be successful. So, if you could best describe yourself as what it is you hunt (as a metal detectorist) what would it be?

  4. No-one ever stood a chance of finding 'needles in haystacks' by 'over-doing things'. Some folks are just 'eye-balls out' hypos, they lack the ability to do things at a sensible pace. They usually fail to over-lap their swing pattern, too, insisting on max gain and rapid erratic swing pattern. They are prone to tantrums, and yet profess to being experts... Secret is to find 'balance' throughout, with your respective type/s of machine/s. Rule of thumb : low as it'll go, and over-lap those sweeps, as if you were paint-spraying'

  5. Each detector will have its own optimal swing speed - but none of them have a "fast as can be" speed. The Teknetics T2 actually prefers a faster than normal swing speed. It will ID deeper targets much better than when swinging it slowly. XP and NoktaMakro detectors are similar. I would consider their optimal swing speed faster than "normal". Bottom line is that too slow and too fast will both equal missed targets.

  6. The latest news on the Legend is available for any of you guys if you're interested. I'll not spoil anything by further info.... You Tube...Dirt Diggers Uk. The Legend Delivery Update. FACTS & ANSWERS. Dilek Nokta Makro Detectors...(LP metal detecting are main U.K NM importers & retailers). I hope you find it helpful.

  7. Yup...DJ posted Dilek's live stream link. More updates causing more delays. In related news...another US based company (not Garrett) has 5 month backorders for detectors than have been released for years now. Covid and/or internal/external financial problems from material shortages seem to be the issue - from a speculation point of view.

  8. Try changing the wireless channel on the Simplex so it comes through the speaker - then back to channel 1 to see if that corrects it. Also try muting and unmuting the Simplex - and also adjust the volume to the lowest level and then back up again. Beyond that I would contact NoktaMakro on that one. Might be an issue with the main board of the PD. USA Technical Service Form - Nokta Makro Metal Detectors (noktadetectors.com)

  9. Hello to everyone who loves this hobby. I have been into metal detecting for a while. being a fan of the Hunter GT I thought I would join his forum. I have been getting itchy already for spring to come back to Minnesota so I can get back out with my patriot and find some good stuff. already got some spots scouted out just need the thaw to hit.

  10. Thought it would be nice to find out a little about other members so thought I would ask what other hobbies or passions do folks on THGT have Me I also play Banjo and they are a passion for me I am into collecting them or was, I also build Gourd Banjos at one time I had 30 banjos then i sold off most of the heard and now I only have 5, one of those five is a first gourd banjo I built for myself, i also still have two regular open backs and a long neck fret less open back and one resonator banjo, and they make my wife smile which is hard to do but I mainly play for her don't know if ya all can tell or not but most banjo players are considered to be nuts LOL I also love to fish my main passion rite now is dirt fishing though enough about me Thanks for reading

  11. Me, I'm a 60's hilly-billy boy from Kernow ( Cornwall U.K ), so 'running dogs, rifles, fast bikes and hot females were my penchant. Got my first .22 rf at 11 (1971) BSA LR iron-sights, and a hand-full of hollows to get aquainted. After that I was given twenty five rounds a day. Moved through the calibres to .243. .243 is a flat shooter. Excellent shot placement is key: massive calibre isn't, so that old .22 rf larned me well. Got to a certain age and simply had enough of killing, even though no meat ever went to waste. I believe too much killing taints a man, and Karma doesn't take kindly to it, either.. Hunted with long-dogs and lurchers for almost forty years, too: day-time and dark.. Had a passion for motor-bikes that lasted ten or twelve years from '77. Started out on a Suzuki TS 185 Trail, finished on a Kwak 1,0000. Lost part of my left knee on that TS 185. Took up metal detecting when I got too crocked to hunt with my dogs. These days, hunting for history with a 75 and G2+ keeps me out-doors.... Always had a passion for reading, especially military history, from the Mongol Khans to killing that Hells spawn Bin Laden. Always had a passion for air-power ( RNAS Culdrose on 'door-step', in Kernow). Ever since I was told ( again in '71), that the "boohm BOOHM" noises, we all heard regularly came from the SR71. I was intrigued so I checked it out, and after that I was hooked. I collect 1/72 die-cast model fighters, from Spitfire/Messershmitt, to F4G's/ F15/16/22/35.... Pride of place is my 1/72 Century Wings SR71 Blackbird. There's a post somewhere on the forum with some of my gold Iron Age coins etc..that I've started to collect... I sold off a lot of quality medieval silvers etc, and with the proceeds I have started to collect ancient British gold coins ( V expensive for good 'crisp' ones! ), so that 'hobby' is a slow-burner. I'm 6'3" tall, with white straight hair an' black curly teeth.... jokin' about hair and teeth....the rest is 'History'...

  12. Lesson learned: Engineering needs to be the one to make the call on a release date - not marketing/sales. A Christmas Day announcement of "coming early 2022, blame covid" would have been a well-received gift.

  13. I am a huge PC gamer. I play almost every evening before bedtime. I love it and will never stop - no matter if I am looked at as childish or whatever. Spent CTX3030 type money on my setup and the newness has not worn off after 1.5 years with this build. It is my 5th homemade gaming PC build. Both of my kids also have gaming PC's. AMD 3900X 12 core processor - 32GB Corsair 3200 memory - RTX3060 - 4TB of SSD space - 3TB of HDD space. I run it all connected to 3 monitors. A 1080P for gaming - a 3440x1440 ultrawide for editing and games - 4K TV for movies. I also am an amateur audiophile. I love collecting mid to high end headphones. Phillips X2HR - SHP9500 - Tin T2...etc. (plus 10 more at least) I run them through a Creative G5 headphone AMP. Last but not least - I am into mono and poly synthesizers. Have a Novation Mininova and a Behringer TD-3 that I mess around with. Connect them both to a Novation Circuit Tracks. I am not a musician or anything...just like to dabble. Taking piano lessons as well as of late.

  14. growing up and living in the fingerlakes of NY, fishing has always been a hobby .. pike fishing to be more specific, it was bass fishing until the "pros" found out how good of a fishery these lakes are and they ruined it, for the good of their sport .. in my younger years a lot of fishing was for food, pan fish, bull head, smelt, but now it is looking for the big toothy critters that pull on the drag for a bit. I also am a writer ... I write poetry mostly and have a few published pieces. .. that reverts back to one of the main reasons I will never be on FB again. I used to write at least one poem a day and put it on FB...this was just an exercise in writing, none were meant to be good, just jotting down a thought or observation .. mostly whimsical .. practicing rhyme or rhythm or something other .. this helped with the more involved stuff I was writing (none of which were ever posted for free, anywhere) .. but many people on FB followed them and liked them .. one day someone I didn't know started telling me that what I wrote was wrong and how could I say such a thing, I didn't know this person and the writing wasn't stating anything important, real or political, but they sure were offended (or crazy) .. I left FB that day and vowed never to return. in the 80s I had a band .. a friend of mine was a great guitar player, he along with myself wrote many songs, a few were real good, most were not, but fun to play .. we had an 8 track recorder and would enlist a few of the better musicians around to help record those songs .. we had a few good tapes (that I wish I still had) .. he flipped his car and was killed and that ended the band .. still, some of the time when I'm writing poems there is a tune that comes along with the words.. I have enough new songs for a good tape now, though not the heavy rock and roll I was writing in the 80s .. more so Americana folky kind of stuff. .. I also have a collection of completed poems which are quite complex and compelling, some making a statement, others telling stories .. not as demanding and precise as the Bard, but not the crazy ramblings of Poe either. .. one day I hope to compile them and publish a book. Another thing that has taken a lot of my time is history .. I spend an awful lot of time looking into and learning the histories of places close by .. this put the thought of metal detecting in my head .. it is good to know more about the history of a piece of land than the owner does, especially if you are asking permission.

  15. I think that Dilek, and NM didn't learn the lessons they were served by their Simplex marketing ploys ; re; coil issues at sale-point. Their aggressive promoting ploys put the 'galloping blinkers' on them, again. They came out of the traps like starving greyhounds, instead of going ahead steady, and refusing to allow punter pressure to direct them, and in so doing become too keen to please. Forget the babbling horde of 'wanters' NM. That lot'll always be here. See them for their fickle , spoilt nature, and make the buggers wait in line, until you see fit to make firm datelines. Only release news of your products' sale dates when you are positive of that date. Stay in control; you have what they want, and if you do not make them wait in line they will star-burst and mob you, and make you over-reactive: aggressively defensive; with their unpleasant diatribe: because you are giving them the ammo by your own hand. I absolutely agree with Scott and John on all counts. Let us hope that NM learn from this 'second strike at the bat', and refuse to jump the gun again in a hurry.

  16. I like to see the different tests comparing machines in the same place at the same time ...still they might not relate to actual hunting or hunting where I hunt ...there is something that can be learned from them. ... but with that, tests of a machine that we may or may not be getting confuses me as to why I think it's in bad form to say you've got something, when clearly it isn't ready yet.

  17. I left find mall because I got banned for stating my opinion on a thread just recently one of the persons came at me on an open forum and I said something I probably should not have but I did him and i got banned for two days when I was able two start posting again I went back on and told them they could ban me for life for all I care because I would not ever be back on line on find mall so I essentially banned myself. I do not understand people at all the good people you can learn from get so bashed on and berated and they chose to leave and never post again, there are only a few good forums to learn about metal detecting and that's why I came here, I love THGTs approach to testing and teaching so here I am to stay LOL I love the fact he is a straight shooter and tells it like it is

  18. Early days yet. Best not get too excited by things as they be. Let yourself be judge, Jury, and if need be 'executioner'. Over here in UK, some of the pre-sales simplex testers were little short of ridiculous : coo-ing and ahhh-ing and blowing warm air up NM's butt with their exhortations. Their air-testing, 'bucket of doom' depth tests were ridiculous. The 'proof of the pudding is in the tasting', as 'they' say. Let the seasoned vets guide you on YT, not the 'You Tubers', because most of them have little or nothing to gain, nor do they have egos that require regular 'polishing'. John does sound reviews, so, too, did Don Southern, until idiots with their diatribes seem to have made him reluctant to post reviews. Can't say as I blame him.

  19. Just my opinion... If you are "expecting" better tests instead of "wanting" better tests - then maybe you are being a bit harsh on yourself. I can see both sides of the coin however. On the negative side - NoktaMakro and Deus both said product would be in people's hand in December, and that didn't happen. So, there is always going to be some backlash in that situation. Also, the early tests shown from NoktaMakro testers are all stock settings with limited menu being shown off, which means they are clearly under NDA. I do not blame them...their hands are tied, and they are showing what they are allowed. I am thankful to have that over nothing at all - but I do want more. With XP, early videos are from Calabash who is an XP fanboy (no offense to him), or from Gary Blackwell who works for XP (again no offense to him). Plus, Calabash is a relic hunter and mostly deals with iron tests - and he has cotton candy soil 15-inch dime type (no fault of his). I want to see it in my harsh California soil and see how it does in trashy parks. (That is no offense to Calabash...we are just totally different detectorists with totally different soils - hunting styles - agendas.) On the positive side - The XP videos Calabash put up do show some interesting situations that would be difficult in the real world. His testing is decent for relics hunters. The NoktaMakro tests do show it hanging close or equal to the Equinox at stock settings. That makes me think that as the updates happen, it just might equal or even best the Nox 800...for far less $. As far as air tests - I place a MUCH higher value on them than I do other YouTubers test gardens. Air tests show off a best-case scenario for small and large objects, which can then be calculated according to my knowledge of my local soil conditions. There may be a 60-70% drop off in some cases. In my eyes, it is other people's soil tests on YouTube that don't matter. Their soil is not my own, and not what I dig on a weekly basis. I could care less if a guy gets 6 inches or 15 inches in his soil. I can never compute his soil numbers into my soil numbers (percentage of drop off) without seeing an air-test first. Air test = best case scenario. Soil test = general expectations scenario. Crazy nail/trash tests we create = worst case scenario. My gut feeling says the Legend is going to be fantastic for the price...and many Simplex user will eventually upgrade to it (which is a ton of users). I also expect a few Garrett and First Texas guys to pick them up as well. The price is right. I expect the Deus 2 to sell well since the Deus 1 was already one of the best iron sifters ever made, super deep, super fast...now it comes in a true multi-freq detector. Price is a turn off for sure...but many will buy it.

  20. I haven’t seen many of the deus 2 because it’s way outa my league to even consider. But the ones I have seen the tests were definitely better than what people are doing with the Legend.
    3 points
  21. I feel the DEUS 2 is being way over hyped as well until the legend and the deus2 get into peoples hands that actually hunt in real world scenarios i do not believe any of us will know what either of them are actually capable of you have to think about the Deus 2 those machines were handed out to people for free so those people that got them free are going to give high praises I believe, Calabashes reviews of the Deus 2 has came closer than any I have seen to real world then any of the others but he still got it free and just because the one he received seems to be working in his dirt does not mean it will work the same in some of the dirt I usually hunt which is extremely mineralized here in AZ there are to many variables when detecting that can affect everything, just like the one video I seen of calabashes where he had a bucket full of mineralized dirt i feel that was not a smart test to me the signals he was saying he would dig were scratchy as hell it sounded like a bad target would sound to me the only reason I did the pre order on the Legend was because I have always wanted to try a Nokta/Macro detector, and when they said they were available for pre order i decided to pull the trigger, I debated for quite a few days about both the Legend and the DEUS 2 and that was after weighing all the things that were important to me the legend could very well end up being a dud I can live with that but it could turn out to be just as good as the Equinox 800 in the detecting department and maybe just maybe it could even be a little better the build quality that everyone has always talked about with the Nokta/Macro line I hope has continued on, but I took it as a given that it would the other thing that swayed me to the legend is the price you have to think if the legend turns out like we are all hoping for then that pro package is one heck of a deal where on the other hand how many are going to be kicking themselves if they spend three times the amount of the legend and then the Deus 2 ends up being something other then is being posted up, you purchase the Deus 2 with one coil and then add a second coil now you have pushed the cost of that Deus 2 to over 2K I took that in to consideration when I chose the legend my age and health issues played a part also because if I were to spend 2 K on a detector and then it sat all the time I would be kicking my self so I just could not justify going with the Deus 2 and money was a non issue I seriously thought about pre ordering both and may vary well get the Deus 2 later but I will not until It has actually got in the hands of people, if the legend ends up sitting I will still kick myself just not as hard

  22. I agree with you 1000% about the testing especially air testing. Too many variables unaccounted for and it does nothing but pisses off people once they spend a lot of money on it. I swing the AT Max and have found some deeper coins here in Wisconsin with it. Ok detector but I’m looking to move up into multi frequency. That’s why I started this post. I believe these testers if there going to be putting out videos show me something that will impress me to want to buy. Perhaps I should wait another year or so when I may have enough money to buy the Deus 2. Definitely impresses me but way out of my price range.

  23. Yep, perfectly safe to go BACK to 2.77 FROM 2.78. It'll be a lot better. 2.78 'throttled' the machine. My advice, for what it's worth, do NOT run the 2.77v Simplex on maximum gain, either. It doesn't need it, it'll be too 'wired'. The next few sentences have been covered on the forum, but to save you searching; Only those that either know no better, or who are irrevocably set in their, "Go for the max-gain you can get away with, at all costs, and 'swing like hell', " silliness / mind-set , or those blessed folk who are fortunate enough to have excessively low ground mineralisation ( 'candy-floss soil', as John calls it), can expect full gain/sensitivity to enhance their hunting: it won't: especially not on Simplex v 2.77 it won't.... Secret is to get away with the most USEFUL gain/sensitivity setting possible for YOUR ground conditions. Try putting your machine flat on the ground, outside, with the coil at 90 degrees vertical. Then turn it to max gain/sens. Now wave a small SILVER coin back and forth in front of the coil face. Silver being a low conductive metal, but much sought after. Gradually, still waving the coin across the coil face, move it in a direction away from the coil face. When the TONAL value drops out ( forget the vdi numbers), push a twig into the ground at the exact point the coin failed to get a TONE. Now adjust gain/sens to say, half-power (5/10...2/4...). Repeat the process with the SILVER coin: note where tonal value drops out: push another twig into the ground. All will be evident to you....It's similar to the old transistor wireless days, in a way. Turn volume to quarter; tune in to Radio Luxembourg, on it's short wave-length; find the music; turn the volume up, and "Hey Presto!" the musical quality distorts: the machine can't cope......Sensible gain/sens: low and slow-ish swing. Hope this helps yourself and himself, Dj. I bet Scott and John'll probably laugh, or maybe roll their eyes, respectively, after yet another of the Cornishman's rambles!

  24. Yea Dj, keep up the excitement and he won't know what he's missing...and maybe with a bit of beginners luck he'll make the find of a life time right off the bat ... I know that my first year detecting I made so may good finds that I got hooked and almost everyone of those finds could have been found with just about any detector ... surely a simplex, even with the V2.78, would have been a good detector to start with ... it wasn't until recently when I started searching for the really deep stuff, where a better detector was even needed.

  27. How many do research before they decide whether they are going to detect a home or area to hunt gold nuggets, or areas to hunt with in a town for me when living in Ohio i rarely ever did any research other then the home my wife and I purchased in Ohio, my wife and I spent months researching our old home it was built in 1889 which I knew because of the age there was history to be found, other places I detected in Ohio like homes and creek bed areas i knew the history was there so I detected most home owners were pretty willing to allow access to detect there property but wanted to see what I found nine times out of ten they just wanted to see the items I dug up and I would tell them take what ever you want most elected to just look and would not take anything most could not believe what I dug up. I know when searching for gold the area you detect makes all the differences in the world and research is pretty much imperative so you are not hunting aimlessly, the property my wife and I owned when we moved from Ohio back to Arizona was in northern AZ and was forty acres when I researched the area we were in it was not known to have much gold ever found but all the indicators you look for when gold nugget hunting were there also meteor's never found any meteor's though but gold nuggets was a different story I did find some gold nugget's not many but few they were all very, very small I did find flower gold in some dirt and sand from the washes that ran through our property but I used a miller table and pan to do that it was fun Now because of circumstances beyond my control I am forced to start detecting tot lots so how do I go about researching areas of tot lots to detect I am not even really sure it is legal to detect in tot lots here in Arizona so how do I go about finding that out as well Thanks for reading

  28. I like hunting tot lots. Easy to did up stuff. Great coin shooting around the swing sets. I found some of those aluminum Olympic commemorative coins that general mills was giving away in cereal back in the 90's. That was a pretty cool find.

  30. What I am talking about is Nokta/Macro I find it rather funny they have literally stopped saying anything and not giving us anymore updates as to when we can expect shipping to begin, the last update as far as I can tell was a month ago December 15th I believe I have no intentions on dropping my pre paid order, but I do find it rather odd that it is like all communication from Nokta/Macro has stopped, and it seems their presence on the forums has stopped, I am sure they are reading peoples comments but to me it is just really odd, the testers seem to have even stopped posting up anything new also, are the machines just going to be delivered to dealers all of a sudden or what ???, you would think by now they would pretty much know what is what and would try to keep people focused on the Legend Oh well like I said I just find this whole process with the legend a bit odd and wanted to read other opinions on it the reason for this post was due to a email from Kellyco I received that the heading was Update on Nokta/Macro Legend shipping update, the email was pretty useless in my opinion and had nothing to do with updating as to when to expect the Legend Thanks for reading

  31. As the heading reads my grandson came to visit me to day well my son, sons girlfriend and grandson, greeted them at the front door, I had the Simplex plus in my hand when I opened the door my grandson ask if that was my new detector and I said no that is your new detector,I had it all set up for him so we did not have to put it together because I knew what he would want to do, I had the batteries charged up and it was ready to go for him, he said when can we go I told him rite now so we walked down to the sandbox, I showed him all the settings and told him how to ground balance it and turned him loose he found $3 in clad coins and I never seen such a big smile which made me smile, I have a feeling I will be seeing my grandson way more now because he has already been asking when him and I can go again. I will have to say the Simplex Plus seems to be one fantastic detector for as cheap as it was cost wise, it really surprised me just how good it seems it is, I had the 9.5 x 5 inch coil on for my grandson and I will tell you for a $250 detector the Simplex plus is one fantastic little detector. no one has ever detected in these sand boxes at all I believe because of just how deep some of the clad was, he dug two quarters up that i know were deeper than the pulse dive pin pointer which is probably 2.5-3 inches longer then the original Garrett pro pointer those coins had to be a good 11-13 inches deep and that's a guesstimate as i did not have a tape measure

  32. well not sure how to even reply back on your statement Scottt2, your statement about them always communicating with customers is what I have always heard and read also, I did message them about something else one time and they replied back, but again my message to them was about something totally different my opinion on the Legend thing is if you want to sell and convince people to purchase the Legend, you at the vary least post up a little update every now and then which at first they kind of was doing and then all of a sudden it all just seemed to come to a screeching halt, I do not know if it was due to all the comments about it being a clone of the Equinox or other comments I have read and I especially believe this with the DEUS 2 getting ready to hit the states if it were me I would be flooding the forums with updates everyday just my opinion though. me I do not care if it is a clone of anything, if it comes out a better build and is actually water proof and works at least close to the Equinox or maybe comes out a little better I will be happy, and from what I have seen posted up on the Legend it is going to compete quite well with the Equinox Line which is the only machine in my mind you can compare it to, if the build quality that i have always read about the Nokta/Macro line has continued in the Legend and it is just as good in the detecting department as the Equinox to me it will already be a better detector then the Equinox, and if it turns out to be all I stated and then is a little stronger in the detecting department it then becomes a better machine then the Equinox, which is just my opinion also. you will always have people out there that no matter what they are shown they will bash just because it is in their nature to do so I have read some comments where people say to compare the legend to the Apex,Vanquish,AT Pro and a few others, UM no I do not feel any of those machines will even be in the same league as the Legend, but we will not know until we have the Legend in our hands, I feel the same way about people comparing the Equinox to the Simplex Plus,AT PRO and a few others I have seen them compared to UM no, all this is just my opinion though The DEUS 2 in my opinion is in a whole other league by itself, just my opinion also me I am not one of those fanboys that has the mind set it has to be a mine lab or its no good, yes I own some mine labs and I love them just like the GM 1000 there is some build issues with that detector that I know mine lab had to see before it even came out and they did not even correct them, what I am talking about is only a slight problem but it is a problem, it is so top heavy that when you set it down to dig it literally falls over and is frustrating as hell when you go to dig a target, and I actually love them but I am always on the look out for a different gold detector so I am also thinking about purchasing the Gold Finder 2000 from Nokta/Macro, simply because it does not look like it would be top heavy I will be honest with people the only reason I decided to pre order the Legend is because I have always wanted to try a Nokta/Macro detector because of everything I have read about NOK/Macs build quality, and a few other things I have read about them

  33. I have questioned this also ... and I've said before, "I sure do not understand the business models that detector companies use" .. I know that NM also is funded, at least partially buy their country, Turkey ... that country is going through some tuff times right now .. maybe that has something to do with it, not sure ... with that, if I was manufacturing and selling my own metal detectors I would be up front with my customers ... and NM has been defended by many in the detecting community as being up front and caring about their customers, not sure why this is different. .... hopefully it is short lived and quickly fixed If I had jumped in line and preordered, I would be sending a very blunt e-mail to NM, asking what's up.

  34. If your PP is new and under warranty : back it goes, and refund; no 'ifs' or 'buts' from seller, that may get the ball rolling at retailer end. In U.K we have a Financial Ombudsman' office that is there for tardy retailers etc. One mention of the word, "Ombudsman" always gets a result. The F O's office never 'hangs about', hanging out a rip-off merchant to the proverbial barn door to dry....They are excellent at their job, i will say...Perhaps you have an Ombudsman's office, or equivalent on your side of the Pond, if needs be?....Try NM, as John says, on Monday, and Keep on trying until you get them to respond. Obviously e mail them, too. Also, try to find the main importer for NM into the U.S. If all goes well, great. If not don't give up. Go for broke Dj. If you Do get no-where, for whatever reason/s, in future it might be worth actually driving to your nearest metal detector shop, with your Grandson's Simplex and get them to pair the set-up for you. Perhaps take your Grandson with you, and if either of you own a 'smart' phone, maybe film the dealer setting up the MD/HP/PP union for your personal reference. If they don't know how to, do not use them again. They " ain't worth their salt ", because I firmly believe that all established main dealerships that holds stock, and sells it 'over their counter', should be 'au fait' with such issues. Here in U.K, for example, 'Regtons' , the sole XP importer provide all such services 'in-house'. Chons da, Dj. Let us know how you get on.

  35. Unfortunately I do not own a Simplex, nor a Pulse-Dive PP. The only thing/ idea that I can come up with is, is there a frequency adjust setting option on the Pulse=Dive PP. If so, try running through it with all units turned on, on full. The First Texas F Pulse/Tek-Point PPs have this frequency adjust feature, so praps your NM PP has, also? There is frequency adjust on Simplex, too, as far as I'm aware. No doubt it's a wee thing that is causing them not to 'wed'. The Simplex machine and head-phones will have passed quality control operation before sale, so too, the PP. I wish that I could give you a definitive answer Dj.

  36. When I was in Ohio I hunted for silver, and relics but after my wife and I moved back to Arizona my main detecting was for gold after my wife got hit by a hit and run driver in 2019 her and I had to move to the valley of AZ and I have not detected much since then, I am starting to get back going with the detecting so I guess I will be handcuffed to hunting tot lots now for what ever people have dropped, luckily I do not have to go to far to detect them because we are living with in a 100 yards of 4 or five extremely large community sand boxes that I have never seen anyone detecting

  38. Went ahead and purchased a predator tools Raptor hand digger and I will say it is a beast of a hand digger, it has the same build quality as the phoenix shovel The raptor hand digger is shaped similar to the Model 24 phoenix shovel but does not posses the serrated edges like the shovel, i do feel if you were having to dig through roots from bushes or trees the raptor hand digger is not what you want but will let all know for sure, if you have clean dirt to dig with some rocks it will be a great digger for that in my opinion, the Raptor for being a hand digger is pretty heavy the digger scoop starts at the handle is approximately 2 inches wide where it attaches at the handle and fans out to approximately 3.5-4 inches at the tip I will say the Raptor hand digger is vary vary stout and follows the build quality of the predator tools shovels and I am only judging that by the Model 24 Phoenix shovel I have I do feel the Raptor hand digger is a perfect hand digger for digging in park lawns and things like that and that is just my opinion also I do feel the price was a little steep because I could have purchased a couple of there other shovels for a little less then what the hand digger cost but over all I am happy with my purchase Thanks for reading

  39. They are one of the best ever made for manicured lawns. DirtFishing on YouTube uses one...and my hunting buddy recently got one. I plan on purchasing one eventually one my Wilcox trowels give in.

  40. I totally agree with you on that statement

  41. I agree with the other replies even though I did place a pre order for the Legend but I will tell you I am tired of seeing videos of air test on the legend which to me mean nothing,I want to see test done in real world hunting, test that are done on ground that is so mineralized that all detectors struggle on,test relic hunting in all different scenarios one might encounter while detecting, I know there are some out there that truly believe what they see in an air test but I am not one of those here is why I do not buy into air test When I first started detecting I purchased two detectors the AT PRO and a Xterra 705 when I performed my own air test the air testing showed that the ATP was deeper than the Xterra by quite a bit, but when I started detecting with both in my back yard in Ohio it was the complete opposite, the ATP i had purchased would not hit any of the targets in my yard if they were deeper then 5.5-6 inches the Xterra was hitting targets 10 inches plus, my wife literally hunted ahead of me with the ATP and I would pass over areas she had just went over and would get hits so I would have my wife come back we would swing the ATP over the target I was getting with the 705 the ATP would not make a peep on the target, I would re swing the 705 and it was still seeing the target so we would dig and sure enough it would be a silver dime or quarter or some target that the ATP could not and would not see, so air test mean absolutely nothing to me, and do not take me wrong I still have the ATP it is a decent machine it just cannot see anything deeper than 6 inches at least that was my experience with it, I laugh every time I see someone saying they dug a 10 inch dime using the ATP I would have to see it to believe it with my own eyes, yes there is always a chance my ATP was or is defective I purchased both the Xterra and the ATP at the same time in 2010 which is when the ATP came out to market and the Xterra came out shortly before the ATP I believe

  42. Welcome to the forum .. surely those with test units have been told what to test and what to show .. not until the machine is ready to get in the hands of the masses .. will we see exactly what it is ... it was suggested that the Legend would be available as a Christmas present during their grand opening ... right now the tests seems to be one of "how big is the market" and "what do we need to do to get to market"

  43. Neat setup Scott...love that sheath. I just grabbed a Garrett AT pouch for myself...so far so good other than the ridiculously long strap on it. Garrett All Terrain Dig Pouch | Garrett Metal Detectors My go to before that was a Dickies work pouch for longer trips with more trash....and a Bucket Boss pouch for shorter trips or cherry-picking trips with little trash. https://amzn.to/3FQqDAn https://amzn.to/3qIgLCm (Disclaimer: Amazon affiliate links - I do make a profit from them)

  44. As a tester myself - sometimes companies send a single prototype unit out for a couple months...and have testers ship it to each other. Other times they will send multiple of the same prototype unit out. They do not send out different firmware units out at the same time. It would cause confusion with data gathering.

  45. I am no longer a Minelab dealer as of today - which means I will be putting the Legend up against the Nox in a very thorough manner. Latest news in late Jan early Feb for the Legend to arrive. Deus 2 "should" be in my hand by next week. I will pit that against the Nox as well...being flagships...although I fully expect the Deus 2 to win being $600 more in price. I will mention that price difference in the video as well.

  46. That might be wishful thinking. According to the email dealers got - it is due to shipping and production material costs. They have never admitted to a coil ear or dunking problem - which they for sure have. I am almost positive they are recouping warranty claims with the price increase. Yes indeed - they seem to have removed it from their site. A mistake in my opinion. The 705 always intrigued me - always wanted to review one and actually almost got one instead of the T2. Not sure why they killed it. Was made tough and had good performance.

  47. Twice in my life I have purposely and consciously walked away from everything I owned, one minute I had all these things that I thought were important, the next minute I had none of those things (with the exception of a few changes of clothes and a truck to get me away from there)... my reasons for those actions surely pales to what you are going through, but at the time I felt defeated by something that was out of my control and I watched as things spiraled downward, taking me along with it....all the time questioning why? ... I've never found the good answer....but every time I have rebounded, things got better and I keep moving along ... so surely there is something else planned for me on this journey... I believe that everyone has these trials, something that one would think no one else is going through, trials with no logical answer as to why. You are not alone. ....and I like Tim.

  48. since the Legend we are seeing now is just a prototype ... wouldn't it be cool if the end product was the best SMF machine out there ... better than the Nox or Deus II ... because XP has been pounding out videos on the Deus II, NM knows what it is ... and they have a bit of time to match or exceed the performance ... the heads up comparison of these two new detectors hasn't been done, yet ... be cool on NM's part to be the better of the two.

  49. when i did the pre order on the Legend I gave some serious thought to the new DEUS 2 but I just could not justify spending that much on a new machine when I dont get to hunt as much as I once did I did see a new video on YT of a guy in the UK doing a depth test in a large plastic can filled with dirt on the legend and it was pretty impressive the depth, and the TIDs were fairly stable from what I could tell at depth but, again he was using a testers machine what we actually receive may be anything but, I do not recall the coins he was using in the depth test but i do re call the Legend was hitting some of them at 18 inches again it may not be the same when the final product is delivered but my hopes are that does not change, even though I have never been one to use the TIDs much I always hunted more by sound of a target and always dug everything which I am going to change that because of my age and my fat butt cant get up and down good any longer its funny at 50 i still thought I was invincible but now at almost 63 I know I am not hard life has finally started to catch up. The legend is going to be a whole new learning experience for me because of the detectors I have been hunting with since 2010

  50. For general coin shooting they are about equal with the GM1000 being slightly deeper. Both have very fast recovery speeds. The GM1000 suffers if the coins are in iron trash - the GF2000 is superior in iron. For small gold they are just about equal.
